Last night was the opening of the brand spanking new Sundance theater in Houston.  Very exciting news for us Indie film buffs…and good news for all film lovers in my opinion.  The seats are first class, the drinks come in real glasses and the popcorn is to-die (apparently, His Redfordness prefers real butter!).

We picked “My Week With Marilyn” with Michelle Williams as our movie to enjoy in the newly blessed theater.  Not blessed in person by his Redfordness,  *sigh* but blessed all the same.

Ms. Williams chose to underplay her Marilyn making her all the more luminous on screen.  Just a whisper of the breathy Marilyn voice, just a tad of the “little girl lost”, no  overplay of the much reported tortured, insecure artist.  She is fresh, beautiful and delghtfully playful.  Brava girl, brava.   Her close-ups are flawless, a fresh face that suggests MM, but it is all Michelle.

Kenneth Brannaugh is perfectly cast as the snooty, self-absorbed Olivier.  Dame Judy, a dead-on delight as usual.

A must-see, sweeties!

Lovingly tendered ~ D
